Meet Andrea & Pam At These  Up & Coming Events! Mt. Wilson Trail Race Sierra Madre, CA Saturday, May 23, 2009 7:00 am - noon	Pam and Andrea Join Madeline Romo at the Pasadena Showcase House Market Place April 19th through May 17th Pam and Andrea donned new Carefree Gourmet aprons for a month of handing our samples and selling books and wheatgrass at the Pasadena Showcase House of Design's annual fund raiser.  25% of all sales went to support music programs in the San Gabriel Valley.  Pam and Andrea worked with Madeline Romo in the Savor The Flavor boutique within the marketplace.  Savor the Flavor is a gourmet food and gift shop located in Sierra Madre, CA.   Pam and Andrea whipped up Cinnamon Kahlua Coffee Cake, Mixed Berry Claufutti, Spinach Balls with Spicy Mustard Sauce, Pesto Cream Cheese Dip and the famous Iced Tea with a Splash (without the Vodka and Grand Marnier).  On the healthy side, Wheatgrass Tea with Honey was sampled and a great deal of education imparted on the benefits of drinking wheatgrass daily.   This picture was taken the last day we worked.  We are a little tired but still smiling!
A Brazilian Feast for Neice Laurie's Wedding March 14, 2009 A Brazilian Feast was served to 175 guests at a family wedding in Kansas City, Missouri.  Andrea joined Pam and her sisters Ruth and Robin to host the wedding reception of Laurie and Nick. After months and months of planning the Aunts made their family proud with the brazilian menu which included: * Feijoada (Black Bean Stew) * Arroz (Rice) * Couve (Sauteed Collard Greens) * Pao De Queijo (Cheese Bread) * Goiabada Cascao (Guava Fruit & Cream Cheese) * Tomato Salad (Check an earlier post for the recipe!) * Spinach Salad (Not Brazilian, but tasty!) * Flan The guests popped their heads into the kitchen regularly to compliment the cooks!  Whew!  The girls were thrilled!
The Holidays at Carefree Gourmet The holidays passed in a blur for Andrea & Pam.  They participated in private parties held at a fabulous gourmet food store, Savor the Flavor in downtown Sierra Madre, CA.  They baked breads, pies and cookies for special friends and family members.  They supported the Pasadena Boys and Girls Club fund raiser by participating in their holiday boutique and donating 25% of sales to the club to fund special programs.
Andrea and Pam Take a Road Trip to Portland For the Pacific Northwest Book Association's Book Expo September 15-17, 2008 We are back from Portland, OR, having participated in the Pacific Northwest Book Associations annual Book Expo.  We drove from Pasadena in Pam's sister Robin's Prius - WOW did we save on gas!  Thank you Robin! Our first night of the event, we joined up with a select group of authors for a special book signing.  There we handed out quejadinas (of course!) and signed two cases full of books!  What a great evening.  We go the chance to speak direclty with book and specialty store managers, owners and buyers.  This was our best BookExpo event to date!
